Green Flag


Scoil Phadraig Naofa Buachaillí has a long history of being a Green School.
To date our school has received awards for Litter Control, Energy Conservation and Water Conservation. Our present theme is Travel Sustainability, and we will be working on this theme over the next two years.
Our First Green Flag
Our first Green Flag awarded by An Taisce was in recognition of our efforts in reducing waste and litter in the school and it’s environment. The Green School Committee, supported by Mrs Mary Comer, under took the task of creating awareness among our school community as to the importance of separating our waste with a big emphasis on promoting the slogan: ‘Reduce, reuse, recycle’ .
Our Second Green Flag was awarded for our work on reducing Energy consumption while continuing to promote our reduction of litter and waste. “Switch Off, Turn Off and Lights Off when not needed!! was the message from the Green School’s Committee
Our Third Green Flag was awarded in 2020 for promoting awareness of the importance of water conservation and protection of our sources of water. The Green School Committee was supported in their work by Ms Amy Williams
